Every wedding, in its own unique way, is a celebration of love between two people.
Each time, I strive to tell the story of that love — a love that takes center stage as I imagine and shape this special day over the course of many months with the couple.
But no two couples are the same. And while I hold each of my beloved couples close to my heart, not every love story follows the same path. Some are more complex, requiring greater courage, commitment, determination, and strength.
Such is the story of Ana and Alex, who honored me with the task of planning every detail of their extraordinary wedding on April 8th.
Countless elements made this celebration truly unforgettable, but it was the couple themselves who made it exceptional.
A joyful blend of colors and differences — the kind that enrich those who welcome and learn from one another, beyond gender, beyond identity, beyond culture or language. On this joyous day, the languages spoken were many: the language of rights reclaimed, the language of signs, the language of love itself.
Set in a venue adorned for celebration and being used for the very first time for a wedding, this April Saturday — an unusual yet perfect choice for a wedding — was warm and sunlit, allowing guests to celebrate alongside the couple until twilight.
A bucolic wedding, the kind I cherish most, held at midday in a stunning Sicilian setting surrounded by vineyards and olive groves at the beautiful Masseria Pernice in Camporeale.
Guests arrived late in the morning to witness a moving ceremony held in a former tractor barn, now transformed with white director’s chairs and colorful cushions. Two dear friends of the couple officiated the ceremony.
Amid heartfelt speeches from loved ones and witnesses, symbolic boxes of wheat tossed in celebration, and delicate candles resting on freshly cut logs, Ana and Alex exchanged their vows — just in time for a delightful aperitif in the Masseria’s courtyard, complete with fried treats, cheeses, canapés, and assorted delicacies.
After this relaxed and joyful moment, filled with laughter and congratulations, guests were surprised with the grand reveal of the Masseria’s elegant interior — the Festive Hall, beautifully dressed in white for the occasion.
A jute seating chart decorated with succulents helped guide guests to their tables.
Menus and decor were fully customized — including kraft paper bread bags creatively repurposed for the event (a favorite of mine that I love to reinvent for every wedding!). Each table featured a wooden crate styled like a fruit vendor’s stand, filled with colorful gerberas and unique succulents.
The wedding favor? A truly original keepsake — a miniature succulent crafted entirely from sugar paste, lovingly created by the talented cake designer Alessandra Serra.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you to everyone involved — and a thousand joyful, colorful, unconventional, love-filled wishes to Ana and Alex for a life full of days just like this one!
